A BA in basketball is a blocked attempt. In other words, it is a shot that the player attempts that is subsequently blocked.
It is a blocked shot, not a shot on goal. To be counted as a shot on goal it has to be stopped by the goalie or a goal.
If a field goal attempt is deflected by an opposing player, that deflection is considered a Blocked attempt.
BS is a player's blocked shots, or how many shots they've blocked.
a block shot is when someone blocks a shot...... or a shot taken from the block
If the foul was committed in the act of shooting the basket counts. If the foul occurred before the shot was taken the basket does not count.
As soon as the ball leaves the players hands, that is a shot attempt. A shot attempt can be a mid-range shot, a full-court shot, a layup, a dunk, or any other type of shot. Fancy passes and alley-oops that look like shot attempts or get very close to the rim are not considered shots. If the ball accidentally goes in, however, then the alley-oop is in fact a field goal, and is recorded as a shot attempt. Only free-throws are not counted as shot attempts. They go in the free-throw category.
It has been blocked by a few. Wilt Chamberlain when he was playing for the Lakers and Kareem for the Bucks. He blocked the shot two times in a row. Manut Bol blocked, Bill Willoughby, and Artist Gilmore.
The ball is considered dead when it touches the court out of bounds or touches a player that is out of bounds. In this case, the ball would go to the team that blocked the shot. Had the ball touched the court out of bounds before touching the player, the ball would go to the shooting team.
