Traditionally, Yes.

In speaking for Australian Football, may I say that the top leagues are fundamentally men's leagues. If we consider the pinnacle of the game, the AFL, we do find that some of the umpires - especially goal umpires - are female. Initially, this seemed out of place, but these days, I think many of the guys actually like having a fit, attractive young lady working at the goals.

In terms of playing the game, women's leagues exist and the girls love playing the game. So if a girl is interested in the game, there is certainly place for her to play.
