The players on a teams Practice Squad do not accrue Time of Service while on the Practice Squad. from the NFL CBA Article XVIII, Section 1, Paragraph (a). " a player shall receive one Accrued Season for each season during which he was on, or should have been on, full pay status for a total of six or more regular season games, but which, irrespective of the player's pay status, shall not include games for which the player was on: (i) the Exempt Commissioner Permission List, (ii) the Reserve PUP List as a result of a nonfootball injury, or (iii) a Club's Practice or Development Squad. "
NFL players with two or more accrued seasons are not elligible for the practice squad. Therefore, any player signing with a team would only be elligible for the NFL minimum salary. The current minimum salary is $285,000 (as of 2007). So if the Practice Squad Player is signed to an active roster, they are paid a minimum of the rookie minimum for the full season or on a pro-rated basis at the minimum salary level. Practice-squad players are "free agents" and can be signed by any team at any time. Hope this answers your question
