A standard shin guard would be ok, as long as the shin guard is just below your Knee and doesnt restrict movement of the knee then that would be ok. There are High Density Foam Shin Guards you can get these days that have groves so you can cut them to size. They give the same sort of protection as Plastic Guards in most cases.

I am a lcarosse player and a coach. What you do to measure the length of the shaft. (Stick part) Put your arm out straight and then put the stack next to or under your arm. What you then do is see the lenght of the stick size, and it shouldn'r be shorter than your arm. YOu mioght want to do something around that size and you might want to go over the finger tips for the stick itself so in the next years that you use it, then it will be a perfect size for you!

It really depends on what you are comfortable using. i know that i like my stick a little below my chin. Most people while without skates at the tip of your nose but while on skates at your chin. it all depends on whether or not while your on skates the blade lays not on the heel or the tip, kinda flat across the bottom.

It should be the height of your waist, give or take an inch or two. Depending on how confortable you feel.
