Cheerleading costs can get quite hefty depending on the divsion you are in. Cheer Competitions and gym fees are the bulk of costs in terms of cheerleading. Recreation and school team cheerleading are much lower in costs, but you still usually spend over $100 on the uniform.

Competitive cheerleading costs can vary. Most gyms cost somewhere from 80-200 dollars a month. Then there are uniform fees (80-150 for both pieces.) And competition fees (20-50 depending of the competition.) Much of this can can be set off by doing things like buying used uniforms or participating in your gym's booster club.

It depends if you are joining an all-star team like me or a school team.

If an all-star team is what you're joining...it will differ. but the main costs will probably be:

uniform

makeup

shoes

bag(optional to team)

competition fees(about 7 probably)

hotel fees

costs to travel

but if youre thinking about school cheerleading the main costs will probably be:

uniform

shoes

bag

competition fees(optional; about 3 maybe)

and if you do the school cheerleading im gonna tell you now its not as fun as all-star cheerleading.

BEST OF LUCK!

My sister was a cheerleader in high school, so here is what she had to pay. Obviously, your costs won't be exactly the same, but this should give you a pretty good idea of how much it will cost you!

Cheer costs

Uniform - $345 for two uniforms (one for home games and one for away games. Usually uniforms for Varsity cheerleaders cost more than Junior Varsity uniforms, so $345 is for two Varsity uniforms.)

Professional pictures- depend on the brand, but about $170 for a full package

Shoes - $45

Pom-poms - $20 if you want to keep them

Warm-ups - $150

Other attire - $80

Adidas duffel bag - $70

Nationals - $1000

Matching spandex - $15

Under armor - $30

Uniform socks - $4

Cheer camp - $200

Camp clothes - $50

It depends on the specific squad. School teams can be fairly cheap, you'd only need to pay for shoes, a uniform, and possibly food/hotel rooms at competitions. All-star teams can be more expensive, the exact cost depending on the number of practices a week. For example, my team practices for about 3 hours and 15 minutes a week, and the cost is $70 a month.
