The average hockey puck can travel at speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour and so a mask must be able to withstand at least that, and repeatedly. The amount of force a mask can receive before it cracks will depend on how many layers it has and it's overall construction, but one a crack is suspected it should not be worn.
