According to Law 3 (IFAB's Laws of the Game), a team may nominate between 3 and 7 substitutes to sit on the bench. During the game, each team may use up to 3 substitutions.

These numbers are standard, but could vary under certain circumstances (amateur, youth, and master's leagues as well as certain scrimmages, exhibitions, and unofficial games).

It depends if your team plays 11 vs 11 you will probably have 15 to18 players or 4 to 8 subs.my team has 17 players and that works well for us.
