Its nearly impossible to state as there are local clubs where registration is not required, schools collages, university local "pub side" male female youth age restricted etc etc but is is estimated by the World Rugby board that over 1 million now play the game in its varying forms regularly

However schools and colleges are not in there as this figure fluctuates because schools have "Physical Education" programmes which have people playing the game as part of a lesson.
