Play is 7-a-side.

However as substitutions may be made after every point, a team at a tournament will nearly always have many more than this - 16 is a common starting point but experience, fitness, standard & length of tournament and captain's/coach's preferences amongst many others will be factors.

There are seven players on the field for each team at a time, giving a total of fourteen players. Teams can also make as many substitutions as they please.
