The Presidents' Trophy has only been awarded since 1986. Three different teams have won it two years in a row:

  • Edmonton Oilers (1986, 1987)
  • Calgary Flames (1988, 1989)
  • Detroit Red Wings (1995, 1996)

The Red Wings also won it in 2004 and 2006. There was no winner in 2005 because the season was cancelled due to the NHL lockout. To date, no team has won the trophy three years in a row.
