Each team gets 2 challenges to start the game. If the team uses both challenges and is successful with both, they get a third challenge. If the team uses both challenges and is not successful with both, they do not get a third challenge. Three is the most challenges a team can have in an NFL game.

Another answer:

Teams have two challenges per half. HOWEVER, if a coach uses both challenges and WINS them both, they receive a "bonus" third challenge.

Well, I guess you could say there are many but mainly a challenge is if the other team thinks the play is false. The reason I said that there could be many different one is because the other team could challenge thinking that a touchdown was false or a first down. That's all.

You get two challenges per game. If you you challenge twice and both are successful, you are given a third challenge. You may use both your challenges in a half.

Just like any other game: two, and an extra one if you win your first two.
