It takes a few weeks of constant pounding and rubbing before the ball starts to soften. You have to be very patient with it but the reward of having the best Basketball is all worth the hard work. Constant massaging and hard dribbles for a couple of weeks. Another thing that you could do is to massage it and rub it with leather conditioner. This softens it out and gives it a really good grip and texture. Notice that at the beginning it feels artificial and bad. After breaking it in though it feels great.
