It is a complicated process to make the match programme before a Premier League season. Before the matches can be fed into a computer program, the Premier League have to take into account both domestic and European cups, international breaks and other events that may affect the matches.
Additionally, the police have 92 restrictions that affect the determination of the match program. For example, Liverpool and Everton can never play at home at the same time, as there would be too many problems with the road network and supporters. To avoid problems, some matches will be played at the so-called "Super Sundays" with two big matches in one day, For example Chelsea v Arsenal or Liverpool against Manchester United. Eventually it will all be fed into a sophisticated computer program that calculates a match program. However, before the match program is published, it must be approved by the representatives of the all the clubs, supporters and the police.
