NFL teams make money by basically just playing, but there are a few more factors. When a team is made, they get sponsors. those sponsors are often very successful companies (ex: gatorade, Nestea ect.) So these sponsors are the donating facility of those companies. The manager of donating decides when, and how much that team will get. So for example, there's a guy named Scott from Johnson& Johnson sponsoring the Toronto Argonauts. He gets to decide when they donate to the team and how much they'll donate. Ex: 4,000$ every time they win a game. Hope I helped!
