This is going to seem very basic but: PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. No matter what position you play, you won't be able to play D1 unless you can do it in your sleep. Next, think about what D1 level you want to go: there are definitely the cream of the crop schools (sports-wise) and ones that usually come in last each year, but are still in the division one level. But you just have to have the heart to really want to play and want to dedicate all of your extra time to making yourself the best player they have seen. You need to be a necessity to their team. If they already have five girls who can play shortstop and you're better than two of them, they probably won't want you because they know you're not necessary for their team to win. You need to have game smarts as well as being physically fit. All of this comes with experience, which a D1 school will definitely want. Also, the thing with D1 sports is they recruit very hard for their teams. They will have walk-on try-outs, but that's after they've gone out of their way to see other girls play.
Pretty much, keep your head high, be a team player, and know your stuff. You have to be able to field a ball perfectly 99 times out of 100 and be able to hit. If you're a pitcher you must have at least three pitches that work for you 100% of the time where you can hit any single spot you're told to hit.
It will be hard work & take a lot of dedication, but if it is what you want, it is definitely doable.
