(The batter hits the ball somewhere in the field and the fielder throws the ball to first before the batter lands her foot on the bag making a force out) * Be called out by umpire for leaving bag too early for a lead off.(If the batter gets a head start for the next bag they are going to before the ball leaves the pitchers hand then the batter is called out by the umpire)

The ball can beat the runner to first base by a defensive player tagging that base before the runner gets there. If the runner runs into a defensive player who is making the initial play on the ball, the runner is out. The runner could be tagged out before they touch the base.
