I'm Nelson Neal and I was the coach of the Wrestling team for the two years of its existence and I was an Instructor of dance and physical education from the fall of 1973 through the spring of 1978. The Athletic Director was John Vaught from 1973-1978 because Bruiser Kinard was fired after 3 games in 1973. Thane Hollington and Mike Tozer were two of my wrestlers at that time.

Ole Miss had a wrestling team in the 1970's. Nelson Neal, who had been an assistant at Wisconsin was the Head Coach. This was under the short and stormy reign of Bruiser Kinard as Ole Miss Athletic Director. Thane Hollington and I were the co-captains. Thane wrestled 177lbs; and I wrestled heavyweight most of the time, although I dropped down to 190lbs for the first half of the '74-75 season. The short lived wrestling program at Ole Miss did not, of course, survive Title IX, which wiped out wrestling throughout the SEC, where it had once been a fairly important sport.
