Hockey players on average make less money than football players. Obviously there are some hockey players that make more than some football players. Eli Manning signed a contract for 120 million over 8 years, or 15 million a year on average. Nicklas Lidstrom signed a 2 year 20 million contract which is 10 million a year. Both players re at the top of the payload in the leagues. The lowest paid players in the nfl make $285 000. The lowest players in the NHL make almost $500 000 a year. So there is a bigger spread in the salary of football players. There is potential to make more money in the NFL, but NHL players are guarenteed $500 000 a year. So it depends on the player on who makes more money
