To make the ball go farther.
Aluminum bats.
to help bend with the impact of the bat to rebound the ball farther
Double walled baseball bats consist of two thin walls within the barrel that are close to each other. These walls act as 'springs' when the ball contacts the barrel. The batted ball is supposed to travel farther and faster. These bats allow for a batter to hit the ball farther, but they are very expensive and have been known to dent after moderate usage. Only wooden (or corked or jucied bats (bats that have been altered to hit the ball farther))
metalMetal baseball bats will most likely go farther. A lot of people believe that wood bats hit farther than BBCOR though
Composite bats are better because the way they hit the ball moves it farther. It is also usually lighter then the aluminum, so it's easier to swing.
You cant really test it accurately, but for the info, the aluminum bats can hit a ball harder, faster, and farther.
Metal bats hit the ball further which is why at unprofessional levels of baseball they use metal but when you get to the MLB you have to use wood.
It depends on which bat you use. If you use a softball bat, a baseball will go farther. If you use a baseball bat, a baseball will also go farther. Baseballs are generally considered a "live" ball. It's hot off the bat. This is why major leaguers use wood bats. The "dead"-ness of their bats slow the ball down a little. So A Softball is generally considered a "dead" ball. Softball players use bats that are "hot." In order to increase the speed of the ball off the bat. So when you pair a hot bat with a hot ball, (a baseball and softball bat) it will damage your bat (and is not recommended to try), but it will go farther. Also, a softball is larger. Based on the laws of aerodynamics, a baseball picks up less wind-resistance, and thus travels at a faster rate and farther on the fly. Therefore, a baseball will travel farther. Think of the proportions of a field. Baseball fields are larger because of how far and hard the ball travels through the air. Softball fields are smaller because the softballs are bigger and travel more difficultly through the air. It depends on which bat you use. If you use a softball bat, a baseball will go farther. The composite bats have a trampoline like affect that give the ball more distance. Aluminum is more stiff and has less of a trampoline affect than a composite bat would.
Metal most definitely, hence why Metal bats are not used beyond the college level. MLB studs are far too powerful to use anything but Wooden bats.
