Because it is a beautiful game. It can be as dull as ditchwater, but when it is good it is magnificent, truly a sporting spectacle of the highest magnitude. It embodies all that is right in sportmanship (or it should, the game has changed & become more 'professional': in my view if you are out you walk. Endastory) and yet has a physical edge that compares the rapier to the bludgeon in batting and pace & speed with guile & deception in Bowling. It might not be to everyones taste to watch all 5 days of a test match, but that would do for me..... in fact what else is there in this life ?
