Depending on what type of field you play on, you can either wear cleats of turf shoes. Cleats are the most common type of softball shoe. There are both rubber cleats and metal cleats, but most leagues do not allow you to wear metal cleats.
Softball/baseball cleats are best for sofball. Soccer cleats do not provide the proper tracton for dirt.
Softball cleats are made in girls sizes and for girls feet. Baseball cleats are made in boys sizes and for boys feet. Other than that, there isn't much of a difference. Softball Players can wear Baseball cleats, and baseball can wear softball cleats. you would just need to look up a convesrion online. I wear a 7.5 in my womens softball cleats, but when i wear my mens baseball cleats im a size 6.
so, soccer cleats, don't have a 'toe' cleat on the top, and a softball cleat does. if you compare them, look at the very top. also they are made of different materials, and on the bottom part, where the heal is, soccer cleats usually have a different pattern.
incorrect. They are very similar, but not quite the same. I have used soccer cleats to play softball with, so they will work, but I prefer the softball cleats. They have the toe spike and give you more support around the ankle.
You can wear football cleats for softball/baseball. They will not perform as well though. Depending on your level of play this may not mean much...less than a tenth of a second in a 90' base path. You CAN NOT wear softball/baseball cleats in most other sports. Baseball cleats are normally flat and metal. They also have a "toe" cleat that works well in loose dirt. This toe cleat can cause injuries in sports like soccer, and is why they are normally banned. Most kids wear football or soccer cleats for all sports due to their interchangability and the cost of buying multiple cleats. Good football cleats often have interchangable cleats, for different field conditions.
No it's ok if your are the right age.
It does not matter what kind of cleats you wear in a softball game. As long as they are cleats and you feel comfortable wearing them on the field, there is no rule against it. You may be at a disadvantage because there is no cleat in from to dig into the dirt when you are trying to accelerate. This toe cleat is what makes baseball and softball cleats illegal in soccer.
Most softball players wear long socks, cleats, shorts, and a t shirt. They bring a bat and a softball if one is not provided to them.
Not until you get to high school. It is against the rules if you are younger than that to wear metal cleats. Even some high school level teams don't allow it. They are banned because if you step on someone when they are sliding, it hurts alot!
Pretty much any outdoor field sport requires cleats (there are different types for each sport, I think). This includes soccer, football, field hockey, boys and girls lacrosse, softball, baseball, and rugby (there are probably more I can't think of).
Molded cleats tend to be less expensive than replacable cleats, and are considered less likely to injure other players - in a slide for example. A disadvantage is that you have to buy a new pair if the cleats break or wear out before the shoe does.
