I have osgood-shlatter myself and in 6th grade. It does hurt, and if your a football geek (like myself) it is probably hard to get away from that. I'd suggest resting, no sports. My doctor said that I have to just rest and no sports. I want to be in pediatrics some day, so having this knee pain is a good bad experiance.

Me too, but, im a geek in ALL sports. Im a girl though, and i researched my problem and it said boys get it more often. My brother got it from my dad, and i got it from my brother. SOCCER is the best sport, but also makes it much worse, because of slide tackles, kicking, falling, pushing. (im goalie) and it always hurts afterwards. (and in game, dur) So, i play whatever sports i want. I dont care if it hurts, sports are my life outside of school, and they always will be. My bf has the same problem, and hes a football geek as well. But, i soon will be getting a knee brace, but some people say they don't help. But, to answer your question, it kinda depends on the size of the lump, your age, what sports you play, how active you are, ect. But, I'd talk to my mom or dad (im in 7th grade) about it.
NO it will go away if i doesn't go to the docter
People maintain their heritage because your ancestors could've played sport and having you continue to play sports you are continuing their line of athleticism.
