You can be a fat high school cheerleader if you have the skills ! It is a shame that high school cheerleaders have a sterotype saying they are skinny and bitchy ! I am on a high school squad and there are fat cheerleaders on the squad but it doesn't matter because they have just as good moves. No! Any body type can be a cheerleader, but you must be able to expend a lot of physical energy. Cheerleading is a very demanding endeavor and having lots of stamina and endurance will really improve your performance as a cheerleader.
Generally, the strongest people on the squad will be bases. This doesn't necessarily mean biggest, just the person who can lift the most weight. Top girls, or flyers, are generally the most flexible or the lightest members of the team. Backspots are usually the tallest people on the team. The stunt position you play will depend on the other member on your team. Some people who may be flyers on one team, may end up being backspots on another. It's all relative.
Remember when participating in any strenuous activity to make sure your body stay hydrated, and never push yourself beyond your body natural ability.
