sharpie is the best type of permanent marker.
I use malballizer or diablo
A Sharpy fine point marker is good. It does not erase easily.
Acrylic paints are a good starter medium.

There is no such thing as the "best" paintball marker. Anything over $700 is mainly preference. If you don't want to spend that much on a paintball marker, markers such as the Dangerous Power G3, Proto SLG, or Azodin Blitz are all great for the price. Also keep these two things in mind: Nowadays lower end markers ($200-$350) can compete with the ultra high- end ones ($1000-$1500+) fine. Also, the marker does not make the player. No matter how much money you put into your marker, it will not make you a better player.
The best kind of paintball gun, is one that feels good in your hands, does the job its supposed to do, and fits your budget. Going out and spending hundreds of extra dollars so you can shoot 20 balls per second Is not only going to waste a lot of money, but will not improve your game that much (unless your a professional) However If you're willing to spend the money, and it makes you happy, go out and buy a high end tournament marker. Also buying excessive amounts of military simulation shrouds and parts will in fact hinder your speed and ability to aim quickly. If you don't care and just want to look good, then go out a buy the most realistic marker possible. However if you want to play well, you must find the best marker possible that you can still afford to put paint into.
I say the best looking starter is without a doubt Enfernape.
