Babe Ruth did not have a very happy childhood. He was sent to an orphanage by his father at age 7. For 12 years he rarely saw his family. Not on holidays nor the Sunday per month designated for visitors. He became an unruly student as a child. He eventually started to turn his life around when he found a father figure in Brother Matthias at the St. Marys school. He became an inspiration to Babe in baseball as well as life in general.
