A red card in soccer symbolizes the ejection of a misbehaving player during a match. The reason it was made red was like in stop light, red is an overall symbol to tell you that you can go no further, and why it makes a player be taken out of a game is if the player is misbehaving they must be removed from the game before more fouls, or injuries occur. A red card is strictly for the safety and sanity of the game, nothing more.
I have learnt that a red card normal means in soccer/football, that the team have lost one player and have to play with fewer players than the opposing team unless they too have had a player sent off. This player cannot be subbed once red carded and depending on league, club or rules can be banned and fined for the offence.
NO..... the Team is now a player short.
Under F.i.F.A rules a player who is shown a red card , leaves the grounds and the team will play with ten men only, and the red carded player will miss the next game.
There are 11 players for each team in a pro soccer game. (including the goalie). Unless someone gets a card and has to come off. Then they play short.
