to make sure the TV networks can get in their pregame information before the game starts I do not believe this answer. I am here in Houston and the games are scheduled (for the world series)at all kind of odd times like 6:53, 7:13, 6:58, etc...being from Germany and not knowing too much about Baseball, this just strikes me as odd.
