to make sure the TV networks can get in their pregame information before the game starts I do not believe this answer. I am here in Houston and the games are scheduled (for the world series)at all kind of odd times like 6:53, 7:13, 6:58, etc...being from Germany and not knowing too much about Baseball, this just strikes me as odd. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation? My e-mail is heidiflis@earthlink.net Thank you!
It is q quarter [of an hour] past five.
A quarter of an hour after 5 o'clock. That is 5:15 [am or pm].
Quarter past 5 refers to 5:15, indicating that it is 15 minutes after 5 o'clock. It can also be expressed as "five fifteen" in verbal communication. In a 12-hour clock format, the hour hand is slightly past the 5, while the minute hand points directly at the 3.
5:30. When referring to time, "half past" means 30 minutes into the hour. For example, half past 3 is 3:30.
5 past 5 on a digital clock is displayed as 5:05. This indicates that it is five minutes after five o'clock. The hour remains 5, and the minutes show 05.

Quarter to means 15 minutes before the hour; e.g. 5:45 Quarter past means 15 minutes after the hour; e.g. 16:15
"20 past 5" means that it is 5:20 on the clock. In this case, the minute hand is pointing at the 4th minute mark (20 minutes past the hour), while the hour hand is pointing directly at the 5. This is a common way to express time in everyday conversation.
