Grass roots contests happen all over the country, in each scene, every weekend throughout the year. In the summer, this number swells. A fair guess would be something like this: * Every weekend, throughout the year, non-summer months: 100 contests or more. 100 x 52 weeks = 5200. * Summer months: add another hundred per weekend: 100 x 12 weeks = 1200 * Weekday contests are more rare, but happen occasionally in summer.
