The footballers earn according to how good they are , they earn from 60,000 pounds a week to over 120,000 pounds a week.
For professional football (NFL), it is called a 'bye' week. I've seen that terminology used for college football as well, in addition to "off week", etc. The terminology from skipping a round in a tournament is borrowed due to the weekly-periodic nature of a football schedule (as opposed to the more chaotic schedules of other sports).
A bye week is a week in which a team does not play a game (does not have to be football)
The AP polls are released every Monday during the college football season.
