Games are designed and held to maximize media exposure to allow competition to be watched around the world. And the best athletes in the world can be gathered together in a matter of days, instead of weeks of train and boat travel. Did you know that the rules of the javelin event had to be modified and the shape and materials of the javelin were changed, as athletes were throwing over 100m, putting spectators lives at risk!
