Basically, You get paid nothing. It's the pride of representing your company that they give you and a medal, maybe. But the give you free coaching if they think you have the talent and provide you with transport and accommodation, I fyou have any friends or family who want to come, then they have to get there on their own. Not company, country.

Olympic athletes don't exactly pay their own way. They get some funding from the U.S. Olympic Committee and from commercial sponsors. They also sign up for commercials. Whatever is left, they have to pay for themselves.

Yes. one time a group of athletes in Brazil didn't have enough money to go to the Olympics of the year. So they set up a business on a boat and made money along the way to pay for the voyage and other expenses

Yes you have to pay it is not free .It is the biggest sporting events ever that's why you have to pay other wise the whole system will go mad.
