It depends on if you're strictly using your board to get around, or if you prefer to do tricks and the like. Although there are certain tricks that can be performed on a longboard, longboards are typically used for transportation and "Cruising".
Cruiser Boards are usually Shortboards or "Shlongboards" that can be used for both cruising and street-tricks.
Longboards are, well, longer, which allow the board to travel for a longer amount of time. If cruising is your main objective, then I would highly suggest a longboard.
Go skate, and see what you like best.
cruiser
The top three cruiser long board styles are as follows: the flexible drop-through, the traditional cruiser shape and the commuter styles. Any one of these would be personal preference, but those three are the most popular.

A cruiser is a type of longboard, also referred to as a short-board. Longboards can be meant to do anything from sliding, free-riding, cruising around, and more. Cruisers are usually shorter and wider, and have very big, grippy, low durometer wheels meant for all kinds of terrain.
loose trucks and a wide board
It depends on your riding style, but for a Loaded board, I'd suggest something like Paris brand longboard trucks or Randal brand longboard trucks.
there is no best longboard for anything there just different but a good crusing board must be quiet smooth and easy to push.
