Long board wheels or any skateboard wheels are generally made of polyurethane, ore just urethane. Long board wheels are generally softer and larger than regular skateboard wheels. The softer the wheel, the smoother and quieter the ride is, but hard, smaller wheels are good for landing tricks, but go slower and bumpier. Since long boards are generally not used for flip tricks, they can focus on speed and ride quality.
The deck of the skateboard was plastic and could not hold a lot of weight on it. The trucks on the skateboard were poorly made too! Now they have wood decks and holds lots of weight! The trucks on the board are now made of better materials!

Yes. Well, typically. There are trucks that are vehicles: pickups, flatbeads, rollbacks, box trucks, panel trucks, semi-trucks, etc. There are trucks that are carts, such as factory carts. There are also trucks beneath your skateboard; the axel and bracket that hold the skateboard wheels is called a truck.
