It is going to depend on the individual. To be good at either of them requires a lot of practice. Karate takes a lot of time to learn from others, most skateboarding skills can be learned on your own.
If you have to ask that question its not going to happen, to go pro mainly need to know someone. You don't need to worry about that when you could be having fun on your skateboard. Besides you don't want to go pro, you don't want skateboarding to feel like a job.
If you are flying domestically, then the Long Beach Airport is easiest. If you are going international, then LAX is easier.

Skateboarding, if you just stick to whats comfortable at your level. Generally skaters don't do anything that involves going upside down, which can break your neck if done wrongly, and is just foot and board control.
