It is going to depend on the individual. To be good at either of them requires a lot of practice. Karate takes a lot of time to learn from others, most Skateboarding skills can be learned on your own.
well skateboarding doesn't really make life easier but it is really good exercise and get help you take out aggression when you are angry.

Skateboarding, if you just stick to whats comfortable at your level. Generally skaters don't do anything that involves going upside down, which can break your neck if done wrongly, and is just foot and board control.

Not necessarily. My karate instructor, which is very old, started it when he was a teenager in California (He is from Arizona). He strapped inline skates on the bottom of a surf board, and other people started getting the idea.
