Urmm..skating shoes are the best for Skateboarding no doubt..but..ive tried converse ...theyre not that bad....u wont get the same grip as u wud get from the skating shoes though
Just as you wouldn't go bowling in the wrong shoes, and you wouldn't wear high-heels for running, you shouldn't wear normal trainers to skate. Wear proper skate shoes. They are designed to survive the wear and tear you get from skating; like when you do ollies in non-skate shoes, you will destroy the toe in a matter or minutes. Definately buy some good skate shoes.
I would use vans or dc shoes for street skating especially if you are wanting to get serious about it. also nike makes a good street shoe. but it is really what is comfortable with you and what you are comfortable skating in. but all these shoes have a different grip so pick the one that you really are comforable skating in.

No. 1. You want quality shoes that will endure wear and tear. Leather shoes degrade very fast in a skating environment. 2. Leather shoes vary on how comfortable they are as they can be designed for all sorts of things (formal wear etc). Skate shoes are designed to be used actively. 3. (Debatable) Leather is less of a breathing material. Meaning as you sweat up less air can escape or refresh your feet.
It depends on th design. There are better skate shoes out there though, I would suggest DC or World Industries.

Cherokee shoes are shoes which are designed to be more comfortable than regular dress shoes. They are also treated to be good against slipping possibilities.
because you are not very good at skating
The shoes are designed with additional rubber insole, making it more of a workout on your calves as you are running, but other than that they are regular running shoes.
Pay Less shoe source is a good place to look for inexpensive shoes. Also Dallas Shoe Warehouse and Famous Footwear offer shoes at discounts to normal retail.
