There is no world record for the 8 mile run. It is not an official event recognized by the IAAF. I'm not even aware that the event is raced enough to have any significant representative world best.
If you are not familiar with track speak...
No one races it, so no one cares.
The men's world record for the two mile run is held by Daniel Komen of Kenya. His time was 7:58. 61. For women the record is 8:58. 58 which is held by Meseret Defar from Ethiopia.
The women's world record for the exact two-mile (about 3218 meters) is 8:58.58 set by Meseret Defar of Ethiopia in 2007
There are no official records for the 1.5 mile distance, but considering that the 2 mile "world best" is less than 8 minutes, if there was a record it would be less than 6 minutes. Combining the times for 1000m and 1500m gives a minimum estimate for 2500m (1.55 mi) of between 5 minutes, 38 seconds and 5 minutes 48 seconds.
If you run 7.5 miles per hour, you will run 1 mile in 8 minutes. 60 / 7.5 = 8
You would have to run 60 ÷ 8 = 7.5 mph.
On June 8th, 1962 Jim Beatty ran the world record for the 2 mile distance with a time of 8:29.8.
Through February, 2009 the women's world record for the mile run is 4:12.56 set by Svetlana Masterkova of Russia on August 14, 1996.
