Control of Russia passed to Joseph Stalin, Lev Kamenev and Gregory Zinoviev acting together. Gradually, Stalin ousted the others and took complete control by 1929.
Vladimir Lenin (birth name Vladimir Ulyanov) was associated with both Russia and the Soviet Union. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Lenin became an influential leader and philosopher among Communists in Russia. After a pair of revolutions overthrew the Russian Tsar (emperor) in 1917, Lenin's Bolshevik faction took control of Russia. A civil war also erupted, and after the Bolsheviks won the war in 1922, the Soviet Union was created. Lenin basically ruled the country as a merciless dictator until his death in 1924; after his death, there was a power struggle which was won by Joseph Stalin, who is known for being one of the world's worst dictators.
After the death of Lenin
march 1924, two months after the death of Lenin.
Technically, Vladimir Lenin was leader of Russia until his death in January 1924, even though he was completely disabled by a stroke and was not able to do anything. After Lenin died and for the rest of 1924, Russia was led by a trio of Joseph Stalin, Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev. Joseph Stalin was not the sole rule until much later.
Never, prime minister role (Premier) was introduced in 1990s in modern Russia. Lenin (Ulyanov), leader of communist revolution, became self-proclaimed leader in 1917 and remained in power until his death in April 1926
After the February Revolution and the abdication of the Czar, governmental power went to the Provisional Government under Prince Georgy L'vov at first. Alexander Kerensky later took control of the Provisional Government. On October 25, 1917, Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized control of the government from Kerensky and the PG.
Vladimir Lenin served as leader of soviet Russia from 1917 till his death in 1924. From 1922 he also served as Premier of the Soviet Union and was later succeeded by the famous communist leader Stalin.
Lenin died due to declining health.
First of all, I would like to comment on the question itself. The Russian Revolution of 1917 was not one man seizing control, but a popular uprising of the Russian people against the Tsar headed by Vladimir Lenin (the leader of the Bolsheviks, or Communist Revolutionaries) and Leon Trotsky (commander of the Red Army). After Lenin became the leader of the Russian Provisional Government, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was formally established. This was a grouping of states including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and others. The Soviet Union became a self declared Socialist state (Socialist implying equal pay, fair hours, free education, etc). However, the political and economic situation deteriorated rapidly following Lenin's death, as a power struggle took place between Leon Trotsky and Joseph Stalin. Stalin took power with disastrous consequences.
No, Joseph Stalin was. Lenin had died in 1924. World War 2 ended on August 14, 1945 with the surrender of Japan. Stalin had taken full control of the USSR in 1929 and kept it until his death in 1953.
Before communists took over in Russia, Russia had many world-famous writers and musicians. The control of Communists over all areas of life, including art and philosophy, led many talented Russians to flee their homeland for freedom in the west. Some were forced into exile for their stand against the evils of communism. After the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, the secret police of the Cheka and the KGB brought the people under the rule of COMMUNIST DICTATOR NIKOLAI LENIN with the threat of arrest, imprisonment, torture, exile to slave labor camps, or even death.
Vladimir I. Lenin was the leader of the Bolshevik Party ever since its beginning at the Party Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in Brussels in 1903. He remained its leader till his death in 1924.The leader of the Bolsheviks, was Vladimir Lenin, and co leader was Leon Trotsky. This changed dramatically upon the sudden death of Lenin in 1924.Vladimir Lenin was the founder of the Bolshevik Party and the one who organized the October Revolution in Russia in 1917. He is the first leader of the Soviet Union.
