What most people don't realize is how much muscle it takes to do Ballet. The leg extensions take so much effort to hold. I've heard of many football players who take ballet for muscle strengthening. It takes flexibility to be a good ballerina but to hold your legs there in leaps, turns extensions etc. I am a dancer i take ballet and my dance teacher said "Nothing about ballet is natural but being good at it is making it look that way" Most people really do just make it look easy
Male ballet dances are usually the lifters of the female dancers. This requires them to both balance and lift the weight of the partners while maintaining the pace of the dance with an air of apparent ease. On top of this they can't make the "oof!" sounds common to many other athletes to show how hard they are working.
