When I had leather toe caps on my pointe shoes, (I prefer to have the toes darned though) my dad used Ados F2 glue. The caps were cut to shape, and then stuck on. Make sure that the toe caps are the right size and shape for the toe of the shoe, because if they are to big and go over the sides onto the front of the block, it can look like you aren't en pointe properly.
I hope that this helps
no... regular ballet shoes are just canvas or leather, but pointe shoes are actually just layers of fabric and glue.
Pointe shoes are made of paper mache, satin to cover the shoe and a plasticy surface for the shank.
There is none. You need to be professionally fiitted for pointe shoes. If money is an issue then I strongly suggest using the Jet box Glue which is used to make pointe shoes last longer. Search for them on the internet. I heard this helps a lot!
Pointe shoes began to change during the romantic era. Before that, a dancer could only go on relavae. The usuall silk slipper would be padded with cotton wool and years Later they were stiffened with glue to help support the feet. Imagine a pointe shoe with out thr glue!! And we think we get bad bunnyons!!

Newer, more practical methods of canvas and glue have since been discovered, and since these methods are both less painful and less expensive, it is only logical that pointe shoes are now made of canvas hardened with glue.

The ballet shoes that professionals use are called pointe shoes. They are shoes made specially for the dancers to dance on their toes. They are hardened with layers of fabric and glue that the dancer has stability. Softer shoes are just ballet slippers and are often made of canvas.
Ballet slippers (soft shoes) are typically made with a leather or canvas upper and a leather sole. Some slippers have a full sole (typically for younger students), and professionals tend to use a split soled shoe. Pointe shoes are made from a mold using many layers of burlap canvas and glue. The shank (covered by the sole) is traditionally made with a flexible leather board, but newer shoes are sometimes using synthetic materials in an effort to make shoes last longer. The shoe is covered by pink or peach satin (though other colors are made to match costumes, too)
Ballet flat shoes are made out of either soft leather or canvas. The box of point/toe shoes is made of layers of fabric and glue, which is then covered by satin.
ABSOLUTLEY NOT! It would be very dangerous. Pointe shoes allow a dancer to go up on her toes in ballet. Only under the recommendation of her instructors is a dancer who is at least 12 with very good ballet technique allowed to go en pointe! After recommendation of your instructor you go to a local dance store and you are fitted for your first pair of pointe shoes. The fitting may take very long because it is so crucial to get the perfect fit for your foot type. These pointe shoes are made of VERY special material by shoe-makers called cobblers. There is absolutely NO WAY you could make your own pointe shoes. You need very special machines and tools. I'm sorry, but yes you do need to spend about $45-90 every time you need a new pair of pointe shoes. There is no way around this, but you can buy Jet Box Glue to help your pointe shoes last longer. I heard this helps a lot! Many online dance stores carry them.
Yes, the Pointe shoe is padded. With layers of cloth and glue, the toe is padded so the ballerina can stand on it like a platform.
Barker Leather shoes generally use cowhide, goat hide and sheepskin. The skin is made of two layers bonded together using animal glue. The outer layer is called the grain side. The inner layer is called the flesh or split side. The grain side is tough and durable while the flesh side is soft and pliable. Leather shoes can also be made with synthetic materials such as vinyl and microfiber.
