Player: A CSA approved helmet, elbow pads and shoulder pads, hockey pants, neck guard, gloves, slash guards (for a short cuff glove) shin guards, a cup and skates.
Optional: mouth guard, in some leagues full masks, and in the Nhl, visors
Goalie: Specialy made goalie cup, goalie pants, goalie pads, chest protector, blocker, catcher, helmet, skates and a neck guard.

You don't need anything to start playing a sport except land to play on.
To play a sport you need the gear, confidence, strength, vigor, and speed.
If you were playing lacrosse (if you were a girl) you would need a mouth guard, a face guard, and a lacrosse stick. If you were playing volleyball, you would need knee pads.

There are several different ways that sports are related to technology. In countries with technology such as the United States we play sports like baseball, football, and basketball. In these sports you need certain equipment to participate. In other countries with not as much technology they play sports like soccer where you don't need as much equipment. Dr. Nathan M.
