Greek Olympians were naked so that spectators could admire their bodies. Ancient Greeks were famous for their love of beauty.

Artemis wasn't naked. She was the maiden goddess and once got a mortal ripped to shreds for seeing her naked.

it was a place for Men and Men only to prove their might against one and other in various sports, clothing at the time was not as advanced as it is today, since the men did not need protecting clothing got in the way so to speek.
