James Frances Thorpe, Wathahuck * Brightpath

Thunder Clan, Sac and Fox Tribe, born May 22, 1887 on the Sac and Fox Indian Reservation, Indian Territory: near present day Prague, Oklahoma.

Jim Thorpe while competing for the United States Olympic team in the 1912 games in Stockholm Sweden was the first and only person to win both the Pentathlon and the Decathlon. The King of Sweden declared "You, Sir are the greatest athlete in the world".

Thorpe began his amateur athletic career as a student at the Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania, while walking by the track he did an impromptu high jump in street clothes beating the team jumpers.

While football was his favorite sport, he competedcollegiate in Track and Field, Football, Baseball and Ballroom Dancing winning the 1912 intercollegiate ballroom dancing championship.

In 1912, Thorpe scored 25 touchdowns and 198 points in leading his Carlisle Indian School team to a national collegiate championship. He was named All American Halfback in 1911 and 1912.

Thorpe went on to play professional Football, and Baseball.

He was the first American to simultaneously play professional baseball and football.

Thorpe played major league baseball for 20 years with the New

York Giants, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Boston Braves;

It was discovered in 2005 that he played at least two years professional Basketball with a traveling team called the "World famous Indians of LaRue"

Jim Thorpe has been enshrined in the Helms Professional Football

Hall of Fame and the Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio:

He is considered by many to be the "Greatest Athlete" who ever lived.
