That's a good question since the first two events that Canadian women won gold medals in were competed on August 5, 1928 at the Summer Games in Amsterdam. I was not able to find the times that these events were competed so I can't really tell you who was first. The two events that Canadian women won that day were the high jump and 4x100 meter relay. Ethel Catherwood won the high jump competition and Myrtle Cook, Ethel Smith, Bobbie Rosenfeld, and Jane Bell were the winners in the 4x100 meter relay.
