The US Korean Service Medal was awarded to members of the US armed forces who served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in the Korea Theater between June 27, 1950 and July 27, 1954. The National Defense Service Medal was issued to all members of the armed forces who served between June 27, 1950 and July 27, 1959, whether serving in Korea or not.

A US Merchant Marine Korea Service Medal was awarded to members of the Merchant Marine for service in Korean waters between June 30, 1950 and September 30, 1953. In addition, there were several state & local medals issued to residents for service in the war. These include: Oklahoma Cross of Valor, Puerto Rico Natinoal Guard Combat Service Medal, Vermont National Defense Medal, Delaware National Guard Medal, Chelsea-North Chelsea Massachusetts Korea Service Medal, Leomister Massachusetts Korea Service Medal, City of Boston Korea Service Medal, New Jersey Korean Service Medal.
