During the season, it is up to the team but the typical practice schedule is Wednesday through Saturday unless there is a Thursday Night game. Practice days are like a typical 9 to 5 job; show up at the training facilities in the morning, maybe watch game film, warm up, spend time in the weight room, and take the field in the afternoon. For some players, this is the only playing time they get.

The size of the depth charts and different teams and such mean that during field time, there is lots of free time, and it is usually free to attend practices, so many might chat with fans and sign Autographs. The amount of downtime is the reason why everybody works out at once to make sure everyone stays fit. In the late afternoon, everyone goes home, to repeat the next day.

Training camp is typically like this too, but five days a week and with about 30 more people. Minicamps (May to June) are much looser, and more focused on conditioning than actual football playing. As for the rest of the offseason, it's endless days of twitter and endless nights of partying and appearing on talk shows.
