Joanna Jędrzejczyk is set to fight Michelle Waterson on Saturday, Oct. 12, in the main event of UFC Fight Night. The event will air exclusively on ESPN+.
The fight, though, is currently in jeopardy, as Jędrzejczyk reportedly informed the UFC that she won’t be able to make the 116-pound limit for strawweight competition; Waterson’s camp, thus far, has refused to meet her at a catchweight. Talks are reportedly ongoing.
The UFC is considering cancelling the fight and bumping the bout between Cub Swanson and the undefeated Kron Gracie to the main event slot. They’re also discussing finding Waterson a new opponent or rescheduling the fight for November.
If the fight does occur, Jędrzejczyk shouldn't sleep on Waterson; "The Karate Hottie" is on a 3-fight winning streak and boasts a 17-6 record.
