He did not put an end to segregation, that was President LBJ and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. who got a lot of civil rights legislation passed in the 1960's.

However, Jackie Robinson Helped to end segregation by being the first black Baseball player in the major leagues-the Brooklyn Dogers in the 1950's.

De facto and illegal examples of segregation have not ended and will not end unless people decide to end them. Legal segregation had virtually ended under Eisenhower, but Kennedy did what he could to enforce Federal Laws against segregation.
