"Goal posts must be single-standard type, offset from the end line and painted bright gold. The goal posts must be 18 feet, 6 inches wide and the top face of the crossbar must be 10 feet above the ground. Vertical posts extend at least 30 feet above the crossbar. A ribbon 4 inches by 42 inches long is to be attached to the top of each post. The actual goal is the plane extending indefinitely above the crossbar and between the outer edges of the posts."http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/fieldfootball is a game played with your feet......the height of the upright.i.e; goalpost is 8Ftsome numpties will say this is soccer........that proves just why they are numpties
The first rules of American football were devised by folks that ran and played college ball. At a meeting between these colleges in 1876, the crossbar height was set at ten feet. It has not been changed since.
you lower it to whatever height you want it at
The goal post must be a minimum of 20 feet above the crossbar and the crossbar is 10 feet above the ground, so that would make the top of the goal post a minimum of 30 feet above the ground. cn xcm

There are two uprights.
Goal posts, commonly referred to as "uprights."
The distance between the two goal lost uprights is 5.4 metres. The height from ground to cross bar (top of the rail) must be 3 metres . From the top of the cross bar to the top of the two uprights must be 3.4 metres. When padding is attached to the goal posts the distance from the goal line to the external edge of the padding must not exceed 300mm
The word "uprights" refers to the vertical goal posts that supports the goal crossbar.
The two uprights are treated as if they extend upward to infinity. So the height of the ball as it passes over/through the uprights does not matter.
If a point after touchdown or field goal attempt should hit the goal post and go through the uprights, it is considered a good kick. However, if a passed ball or a fumble hits the goal posts, the ball is considered dead.
The goal post dimensions in Canadian football are the same as in American football. The goal posts are on the goal line. The hash marks are not in line with the uprights.
The goal posts are 'H' shaped and are placed in the middle of the goal line. The two uprights are placed exactly 5.6 metres apart and the crossbar that links them is 3 meters above the ground.
Usually said when the kicker kicks the ball through the center of the goal posts.
From the ground to the top of the post is 20 feet. The crossbar is at a height of 10 feet and the posts are 18.5 feet apart.
The height of the goalposts is 8 feet!
