Patrick Depailler's last Formula 1 race was on July 13, 1980. It was the Marlboro British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. He started 8th and finished 21st due to engine failure.Depailler was killed on August 1, 1980, while testing for the German Grand Prix.
The San Marino Grand Prix in May 1994 was the saddest Grand Prix. Roland Ratzenberger was killed the day before the race in qualifying, and Ayrton Senna was killed during the race. The second saddest Grand Prix is the 1986 German Grand Prix, in which Niki Lauda crashed on Lap 1 and was nearly burned to death.
